How We Review Products

Product recommendations on this site are built from published manufacturer specifications and, where available, verified third-party information — not from hands-on lab testing. We say this plainly because trust matters more than pretending to have experience we don't have.

Where our specifications come from

Each product entry is populated from official manufacturer product pages and specification sheets. Every entry records the exact source URL and the date it was last checked (verificationSource and lastVerified in our underlying data). If a manufacturer hasn't published a particular spec, we leave that field blank rather than estimate or guess it.

What "verified" means here

A product is only shown in matching results once every field we display for it has been checked against an official source. Unverified or placeholder data (used only for testing the matching engine during development) is never shown publicly. As of this page's last update, 6 power stations, 1 battery and 1 solar panel have been verified this way. This list will grow over time.

No hands-on testing claims

We do not claim to have tested products in the field unless genuine hands-on testing has actually taken place. You will not find language like "we tested this for three months" or "our lab found" on this site unless that testing genuinely occurred. Where a comparison is based purely on published specifications, we say so explicitly — for example, labelling a comparison as "specification-based".

How products are ranked

Once your calculator or Power Planner result produces a required capacity, continuous output and (optionally) solar input, products are scored against that requirement using transparent, published criteria:

• Capacity fit against your required Wh
• Continuous output fit against your required W
• Solar input capability against your required solar W (where relevant)
• Price / value (Wh per dollar, or against your stated budget)
• Expandability, weighted by your stated preference
• Weight / portability, weighted by your stated preference

Pricing

Prices shown reflect what was published at the time a product was last verified and can change at any time. Where we're not confident a listed price is current, we show "Check current price" instead of a stale figure.
